This lesson plan is from a methods course. I actually had the chance to try this lesson out on the other students in my methods class, and it went really well. Part of the assignment was to make the lesson "place conscious," meaning to that relates to the students' community. This lesson looks at "I Hear America Singing" by Walt Whitman and asks students to consider the groups that make up their own school community. The links to the planning sheet and the poem guide are at the end of the lesson plan. This lesson is also aligned to the Common Core Standards. Created: Spring 2014.

I created this lesson plan and components for my Content Literacy class. It is a poetry lesson for ninth graders about making inferences supported by text. The underlined portions of the lesson plan are names of research-supported techniques to improve literacy. An explanation and source for each technique is stated at the beginning of each section of the lesson. Created: Spring 2014.

My class website: This is probably my favorite assignment from any of my college classes. If you follow the link, you can tell that I really got into it. I created this website as part of my educational technology class. It is a sample of a website that I would create for a senior level British literature class. It has readings, assignments, a discussion board, and more. Disclaimer: The assignment required me to act as if I was already a teacher, so my name, contact information, and school are all fictional. This is my first unit plan. It covers a Romanticism unit for a junior level American literature class. I have attached the artifact cover sheet, unit plan, and two lesson plans from the unit. Created: Fall 2012
