Last week, I had a particularly great time at my practicum. We covered the poetry of Robert Frost (one of my favorite poets) in the three block classes of American Literature that I observe. This was the first time that I really got the opportunity to jump in and help in the classroom.
The students were broken up into pairs to discuss a few poems and answer questions about them. This type of group work was new to them, and it was interesting to watch them adjust. Overall, they did a great job working with their partners and analyzing the poems. I walked around the room and helped out when students had questions. I loved working with one or two students at a time and hearing what each of them thought about the poetry. I really feel like a made a lot of progress with getting to know all the students. I’m looking forward to my next practicum day!
